Ylläs offers 330 kilometres of well-maintained ski tracks for all levels and abilities. Enjoy gentle paths to lakes through forests or challenge yourself with a fell climb, stopping to refresh at one of the 20 cafes en route Always carry a map and remember to take note of the short days in early winter.
Downhill skiing /
Ski Finland’s largest Ski Resort at Ylläs with 63 ski slopes, easily accessed by ski lifts. Choose a gentle and relaxed ski downhill through powdery snow or the challenges and thrills of more difficult slopes.
Villa Hytönen is ideally situated 100 meters from the ski slopes.
Hike the walking trails, breathe the world’s purest air, and enjoy the breathtaking views as you explore the vastness of the fell landscapes throughout Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. Select from short day trips or longer hikes along the well-marked tracks.
All provisions must be carried on person from start to finish. Appreciate the natural environment and do not litter, remember that “This world is not a present to us from our parents, but a gift on loan from our children.”
Trail biking can be enjoyed year-round at Ylläs with over 200 kilometres of well-maintained tracks to ride in summer and over100 in winter. Bring your own bike or rent.
It is recommended that you take a hardcopy map, even though it can be easily uploaded on to a mobile phone because mobile reception might not always be available especially on longer trips.
Ylläsen offers epic fishing adventures all year round. Salmon, burbot, pike, and grayling thrive in the pristine rivers, streams and lakes of Finnish Lapland.

Snowshoeing can be relaxing or energetic. Put on snowshoes and walk the 50 km snow shoeing track or go off track to explore places that skis and bikes cannot.

Reindeer Sleigh Rides
Experience a dog sledding tour or a reindeer sleigh ride gliding through snow covered terrain. Rides are suitable for all ages.
Enjoy a relaxing ride on a small, sturdy and good-natured Icelandic horse. Whether through the snow on a sunny winter’s day or a ride in summer, when the sun hardly goes down at all – a nature trail horse ride will provide some exciting and unforgettable memories.
Located in Äkäslompolo, Ylläksen Vaellushevoset caters for beginners and experienced riders alike, with horses and trips matched according to rider’s abilities.
Enjoy an organised group snowmobile safari or rent a snowmobile to explore over 300 kilometres of snowmobile tracks. Villa Hytönen and Villa Jussi are located in Äkäslompolo which has the best tracks in the region.

Play frisbeegolf at Ylläsjärvellä or Äkäslompolo free of charge. Frisbees can be purchased or rented.
If there is no snow on the ground, then put on rollers and access the tracks from the yard at Villa Hytönen. Choose from the easy track in the direction of Muonio or the more challenging route in the direction of Maisematielle.
